Join us at a free, hands-on, group workshop dedicated to helping female cancer patients cope with and combat the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
Learn skin care and makeup applications, as well as demonstrations on hair/wig techniques.
A complimentary gift of full size name-brand cosmetics is given for use during and after the workshop.

Men's Cancer Screening
When: Held annually in the Spring, date to be announced
Location: Location: Family Medicine Center located on the fifth floor of the Physicians Office Building (POB) next to the new UHC.
Fee: No cost to participant

Routine Health Analysis
Chemistry profile including cholesterol, triglyceride and HDL. Complete blood count including 21 different tests. (Participants should fast 12 hours prior to test.) Other tests offered include PSA ($25), Thyroid ($35), Homocysteine ($25), and C-Reactive Protein ($15).
When: Available the second and fourth Saturday of each month
Location: Express Test, located on the first floor at UHC

Skin Cancer Screening
When: Friday, May 13
Location: UHC Radiation Oncology Department
located in the Cecil B. Highland, Jr. & Barbara B. Highland Cancer Center, first floor.
Fee: No cost to participant
Registration: Pre-Registration is required.

Vascular Screening
Reduce your risk of vascular disease. UHC is now offering Vascular Ultrasound Screenings. Available screenings include:
- Carotid Artery which screens for carotid artery blockage caused by excessive plaque, the #1 cause of stroke
- Abdominal Aorta which screens for an aortic aneurysm (AAA) that can cause a ruptured aorta
- Lower Extremity Arteries which screens for peripheral arterial disease, a risk factor for coronary artery disease.
All screenings are non-invasive and painless. Screenings will be conducted by sonographers and results interpreted by a physician specialist.
When: By appointment only.
Location: UHC's Diagnostic Services Department
Fee: $35 per screening or all three for $90

Clinical Navigator
United Hospital Center is pleased to offer a new resource to the north central West Virginia community with the addition of a clinical navigator, at the Cecil B. Highland, Jr. & Barbara B. Highland Cancer Center. Find out more by clicking the link below.
The clinical navigator will focus on the breast patient's continuum of care by providing the following:
· Teaching/encouraging a breast cancer risk reducing healthy lifestyle
· Age appropriate breast cancer screening practices
· Education and support for patients while undergoing diagnosis
· Following breast cancer patients and families through treatment
· Providing education, support and resource mobilization through the entire care continuum from prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and during transition to survivorship.
· Development of a breast cancer education and support group
The clinical navigator is available to assist UHC patients and the north central West Virginia community, by being a navigator or guide for breast health practices and for patients and families after the diagnosis of breast cancer.
