In order to perform this examination, the patient must first report to the Diagnostic Services Outpatient Center located in the Clarksburg Comprehensive Care Building, Suite 107, Davisson Run Road.

Anal Manometry is an evaluation of the strength of the muscles which control your bowel movements. The test is performed by placing a small tube with a balloon attached, into the rectum. Pressure monitors inside the tube transmit the muscles impulses to a graph on the computer screen. This study evaluates the anal sphincter muscles while resting and contracting. Measurements of sensation and volume compliance can be obtained by instilling air into the balloon.

This test is indicated for Fecal Incontinence, Rectal Prolapse, Constipation, and evaluation of Rectal/Pelvic Pain.

PREPARATION: Fleets Enema 2 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
